Homemade for the holidays

Sugar Cookies

53 cups/750 ml all purpose flour

1 tbsp/15 ml baking powder

1 tsp/5 ml salt

1 cup/250 ml butter

2 cups/500 ml granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp/5 ml vanilla

group1_cookieshotMethod: Preheat oven to 375. In a large mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs one at a time and continue to beat. Add the vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients and add to the mixing bowl, stirring until incorporated.

Roll out dough on floured surface to approximately 1/4 inch thick. Use a turkey cookie cutter, press into the dough, and place cut shapes onto a parchment lined cookie sheet, keeping the cookies at least two inches apart. Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until edges of dough begin to brown lightly. When cool, decorate with royal icing. Yields approximately 36 cookies.
